Bird Box, Netflix announced 45 million Watched it in first 7 days
Bird Box is one of the Netflix trending film right now. Though we know Netflix is usually super-secretive with regards to viewing figures. The streaming service has made the unusual step of revealing the numbers for its Sandra Bullock-headlined post-apocalyptic thriller Bird Box . Announcing that the film has attracted over 45 million viewers in its first seven days the highest ever for any original Netflix film.
It’s not entirely clear what Netflix counts as a view (does it include accidental auto-plays, or those plays which only run for a few seconds/minutes?), and of course its impossible to calculate what percentage of these 45 million views would have translated to ticket sales through a theatrical release. Nevertheless, Netflix is sure to be extremely happy with the numbers, given that the film was produced on a budget of just $20 million.
Coming back to Sandra Bullock means she still a huge star in a film Industry. With Ocean 8 crossing $290 million worldwide on a $70m budget. She broke her own opening weekend record in 2007 with a grim. And mournful romantic melodrama Predestination with a $17 million debut and then roared back to prominence in 2009 with the light romcom The Proposal ($164m from a $33m debut weekend) and the super-leggy sports drama The Blind Side ($256m from a $34m debut weekend). She won an Oscar for the latter, and a Razzie for her third 2009 release. She still a star.
